Do you have a dog who seems to explode with the energy of a thousand suns at the sight of another dog or a passing squirrel?
And do you just struggle with them?

🫤
Is this you?

Reactivity in dogs is when they have an excessive reaction to seemingly natural situations.
Dogs who are reactive are likely to get ‘triggered’ when they see something that they feel is unsafe or dangerous.
This could include other dogs, certain kinds of people, children, certain objects and so on.
In the presence of their ‘triggers’ or things that feel unsafe to them, reactive dogs are likely to experience excessive stress.
Their stress responses usually include behaviours like:

💣 Snapping
💣 Lunging
💣 Redirected biting
💣 Nipping
💣 Barking
💣 Growling
💣 Pacing around
💣 Pulling away
Unfortunately, a lot of these reactions are misunderstood as “aggression”.
While they may look scary, they are usually an extremely heightened stress response from a dog who’s trying to navigate in a world that feels unsafe to them.
Consider how you behave around something you experience dangerous or unsafe.
You could choose to hide and run away or you’d get ready to protect yourself - That’s what it is like for reactive dogs around their triggers.
Reactivity in dogs is complex and every dog’s experience of what is unsafe to them is different.

I see a lot of dog parents trying to uncover why their dog is reactive; that might be something you may never get an answer to.
But we can acknowledge that our dogs feel unsafe and help them feel safer in the environment around them ❤️🩹

And that's why I put this this course together because...
⚡️ The current view on reactivity is so limited, focused on changing outward behaviours but not addressing the dog's internal emotional state
⚡️ Reactivity is SO MUCH MORE than just challenging behaviour
⚡️ To see enduring shifts, we have to approach our dogs with empathy and holistically
⚡️ The intention then isn’t to "correct" the dog’s reactivity; it’s to help them feel safe. And that requires a healing mindset!
Across 5 modules and 23 bite sized lessons, I share with you...
